Inside My Makeup Bag

I've done a post before on My Everyday Makeup which you can read here, but my makeup has changed quite a bit since I wrote that so I thought I would show you what is currently in my makeup bag (not all of it, as this post would be way too long! Haha)
My makeup bag is pretty old, but I purchased it from Debenhams.  I really love it because its big enough to fit everything I need in it.

1. Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation- I really love the concealer of this so I thought I would give the foundation a go.  I'm really liking it so far as it gives my skin a nice healthy glow and doesn't look cakey. I'm wanting to get the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation, but until I do this will do nicely!

2. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder- I love this powder and to be honest I think it will always have a place in my makeup bag!

3. The Body Shop Brush On Bronze- I've had this for quite a while now and I go through phases of using it because its so pigmented (which is good) but I'm rubbish at bronzer, don't know why but I just am haha. I'm currently going through a phase of loving it at the moment!

4. Maybelline EyeStudio Colour Tattoo 24hr Eye Shadow (Pink Gold)- I love this eyeshadow.  It stays on all day and is just the prettiest colour ever! I really want to buy it in 'Eternal Gold' as well as that looks just as pretty.

5.  Mac Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow: Plumluxe- I normally only wear this eyeshadow if I'm going out somewhere in the evening, but at the moment I'm really loving it for during the day as well.  It just looks so pretty over the Colour Tattoo and you can never go wrong with a bit of glitter on your eyelids!

6. Ted Baker Eye Crayon- Gold- This is another pretty product I love putting all over my eyelids at the moment! Its perfect if I'm in a mad rush and don't have time for blending and using brushes etc.

7. Benefit Roller Lash- AKA best mascara ever.  Need I say more?!

8. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer- I don't really use this to cover up and blemishes, but its perfect
for under my eyes! It just makes them look so much brighter and cover up those pesky dark circles.

9. Rimmel Colour Rush Balm (Rumour Has It)- I'm really liking this. As it is a balm its so moisturising on my lips, but its really pigmented so it gives a really nice colour.

Thats all of the items in my makeup bag at the moment. I hope you liked this post and let me know any items that are currently in your makeup bag!

Beauty and Fashion Wishlist

I've done a wish list before (which you can read here) and I really enjoyed making one so I thought I would share with you my latest one!

Beauty and Fashion Wishlist

As you can see, its a bit of a mixture of things really! There's a couple of things that I really want from a company I've never heard of but their products look so pretty.

I always here people taking about MAC pigment and whenever I see someone wearing it, I fall in love haha. It just looks so pretty.  A long with the 2 Topshop lipsticks which look equally as pretty. I'm yet to try a lipstick from Topshop but I am so desperate to try these two!

And of course, the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation is on my wish list. If you follow me on Twitter (@bird_butterfly1) you'll know that I have made a deal with my Mum and myself that if I buy no make up for a month I can justify buying it (unless I run out of any thing hehe)

Let me know about any of items on your wish list! I'd love to know.

4. The only other country I've been to is Italy. I want to go to America so badly though, especially New York and Florida.

5. The texture or sponges makes me feel sick. You know the sort of sponge those giant finger things are made out of.  HATE IT.

Everyone reading this :)
(Sorry I know that's probably not the correct way of doing it, but all the people I would nominate have already been nominated/already done it!)

Summer 2015 Plans

I'M BACK. My exams are over and all my work is handed in and so I have finished my first year of University! I'm so happy.  There were so many times when I thought I wouldn't make it, but I have and for that I am proud of myself. Whether I pass or not is another story, haha.

Anyway, onto today's post... As I have about 3 months off for summer, I thought I should create some sort of plan or things that I want to do over this time.

1) Run the Race For Life
I've always wanted to do this and this is year I am going to do it. I am so unfit and will probably just walk the whole way round haha, but as long as I raise money that is all that matters to me! Cancer Research UK is a charity close to my heart so I just want to raise money for them.

2) Spend time with friends
I have a tendency to isolate my self from everyone a lot. I'm not sure if thats just the way I am or because of my mental health, but either way, I do. So this summer my aim is to go out as much as I can face.

3) Have BBQs
I love BBQs and I just want to have lots of them, depending on the British weather (obviously, haha)

4) Eat more healthily and become fitter
As I've said, I'm really unfit. So this summer, my aim is to be more carful about what I eat and do more exercise. Being at University, I find it really hard to eat really healthily and find time to exercise, I just can't do it. I hope I'm not the only one that finds that!
5) Bake More
Since I'll have plenty of free time, I want to bake more.  I've always loved baking, but since being at University I haven't had the time to really do much.  So this summer, I'm going to make sure I do.

I also just want to be happy.  As long as I'm happy during summer, I don't think it matters what I get up to!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know of what you hope to get up to this summer :)

Guest Post from Suggestive Digestive || DIY Peppermint Body Scub

My name's Kitty and I write over at Suggestive Digestive and I'm really pleased to guest post at The Birds and The Butterflies today to share a super simple beauty DIY with you!
I have fads of body care through the years but something I always have on a shelf is this home made peppermint sugar scrub. It's seen me through times of intense tan and unfathomable paleness. It's given me super smooth summer skin and a wake up glow on those cant-get-started mornings.
It's also really easy to make, stores for ages, smells delicious and costs hardly anything at all.
I sometimes even make mini gift portions in recycled 1-serving jam jars - SO cute and everyone seems to love them!
The peppermint oil has several purposes - I mostly like the smell and how it makes me feel super invigorated, but its also great for nausea and headaches and is very soothing. It's great for colds too, when used in a hot shower, which makes a sort of steam-room effect. Very tranquil, until you knock the jar off the side and it bounces off your toe (true story).

Lets get cracking. You can knock this up in about 5 minutes, so it's a perfect quick DIY.

Shopping List
Big ole Jar
Sugar (granulated! not icing...)
Peppermint Essential Oil
Baby Oil (optional but recommended)
Spoon

1. Pour sugar into the jar - about 1/2 way full
2. Squirt in some baby oil and mix it in. I didn't do this with specific measurements, but put enough in so that you get the consistency of damp sand. Make sure you give it a good stir. (Note: If you aren't using baby oil, skip this step, but be aware your scrub will be much stiffer and won't keep as long).
3. Add 3-4 drops of Peppermint Oil and continue to stir. You can add more/less if you like - just work to your taste. Bare in mind that peppermint becomes more intense upon contact, so don't go crazy!
4. Add some more sugar - fill the jar just over 3/4 full.
5. Add more Baby oil and stir until you get the desired consistency. This is sort of up to you, but like I said before, damp sand is a good aim. This will dry out a little the longer you leave it, so its best to have it reasonably moist.
6. Add more Peppermint oil if you want.
Now you're done. A 4oz (jam sized) jar lasts me about 3-4 months and costs in the region of 50p.
Just please do not use it on your face. Burn central.

I hope you enjoy this little DIY - you can even get a little creative and use different oils. Orange oil and ginger is beautiful for winter scrubs, whilst Lemon or Tea Tree works really well for energising you in the summer!
If you come up with any fun combos leave them in the comments below!

Very Small Lush Haul

Right ok, I know I said I probably won't be posting any blog posts because of exams. However,  I popped into Lush yesterday and picked these two bath products up and they were just way too nice to not post on here!

(Bubblegrub)
The first one I got was purely because it looked cute, and the amazing smell was just an added bonus! What I like about this, is that its not all glitter.  Don't get me wrong,  I love the glittery bath bombs/bubble bars, but its really nice to just have half and half. Its a bubble bar, so you just have to crumble it under running water.

(Fluffy Egg)

The second one I picked up is just the loveliest colour ever and I cannot wait to put it in my bath.  I also love the little flowers on the top, so cute.  The smell is described as candy floss, which is bang on, but it also really smells of bubblegum.  Its actually really nice! This one is a bath bomb, so you just pop it into the bath.

So there we have my two Lush purchases! I know its not much of a post, but I wanted to upload it anyway! Theres a guest post coming up soon about favourite Lush products so have a look out for that :)
